Gustavo Cerati, one of the most important and influential figures in Ibero-American rock and Argentinian rock legend, was hospitalized in Centro Médico La Trinidad in Caracas, Venezuela on May 15, 2010. After undergoing surgery, he was transferred to Argentina and was hospitalized in the FLENI Neurological Institute in Buenos Aires Argentina on June 7, 2010.

On June 8, 2010, Doctors reported extensive brain damage due to a stroke. Cerati remained in a coma until he experienced a respiratory arrest that led to his death on September 4, 2014. Throughout his career, he was nominated for various Grammy, MTV, and Gardel awards. In 2007, he reunited with his band, Soda Stereo, for their “Me Verás Volver” Tour.

It’s been almost a year since Cerati passed away, and his legacy still lives on among his fans around the world. The Canadian entertainment mogul “Cirque du Soleil” and Soda Stero band members, Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti, are finalizing the details of a new production that will pay tribute to the band, and their late lead singer.

Today, on what would have been Cerati’s 56th birthday, Google designed a doodle including the singer’s popular phrase “Gracias Totales!” …Happy birthday Gustavo Cerati! You will always be remembered.
