A daring Hollywood-style helicopter prison escape was foiled in Greece on Sunday.

According to reports in Greece, a helicopter touched down on a prison courtyard in Greece as two gunned men in the aircraft fired shots at guards that attempted to stop them. A pilot and a technician were aboard the helicopter as well.

A rope was lowered from the helicopter for the dangerous Panagiotis Vlastos, a convicted killer with a record of three past attempted prison escapes. Prison guards claimed the gunfight caused an exchange that resulted to more than 500 rounds of AK-47 assault rifle ammunition from the helicopter.

The exchange caused one guard to suffer minor injuries caused by flying glass and debris from the barrage of bullets.

While Vlastos did manage to reach the rope, the convict was struck by a bullet and fell 3 meters off the courtyard. Due to excessive damage, the helicopter landed in the parking lot adjacent to the prison.

A story that's stranger than fiction, 43-year-old Vlastos had apparently committed three other prison escape attempts. A reflection to the efforts of Greek prison guards, Vlastos failed every single time.
