ABC's latest Shonda Rhimes series "How To Get Away with Murder." ABC

Thursday night on ABC is getting the Shonda Rhimes treatment, in addition to “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” the network is premiering it’s highly anticipated new series “How To Get Away With Murder” on September 25th. Most fans have seen the ominous yet intriguing promo videos, starring Viola Davis, but the network, producer and star have stayed curiously tight-lipped about what fans can expect from the series. And despite the minimum spoiler reports, there is finally some word on the forthcoming premiere episode, and luckily for fans the news is directly from the source—ABC.

According to the pilot episode synopsis, fans will meet Annalise Keating, played by Academy Award nominated actress Viola Davis, who is a “tough as nails” Criminal Law professor at Middleton University. In her class aptly entitled “How To Get Away With Murder” Annalise challenges her students to solve real world crimes that are among some of the most difficult cases her law firm takes on. After this initial challenge, Annalise discovers a gifted group and “she selects a group of the smartest, most promising students to come work for her.”

However this is no order extra curricular competition, and Annalise’s dedicated law students “will stop at nothing to make sure they get to the head of her class.” While the pilot episode is set to introduce new characters and obviously construct the continuing plot line, fans will also get their first twist of the series in the premiere. Annalise is a determined and intelligent professor who seems to have both her professional and personal life in order. However things are not what they seem when the audience discovers that “her clients' secrets aren't the only ones she's keeping.”

The “How To Get Away With Murder” series premiere is set to get even more interesting, the episode will experience multiple time jumps. According to the episode synopsis, the audience will watch some flash-forwards, and soon learn that the price of impressing their law professor may be too steep for some students to pay. The synopsis teases, “we learn that the price of impressing Annalise might just be too much for some, when a group of students get involved in their own murder mystery cover up.”

“How To Get Away With Murder” premieres Thursday, September 25th at 10 p.m. on ABC following “Scandal.”
