"Game of Thrones" is set to return to HBO on April 6 for Season 4. HBO

Who doesn’t love “Game of Thrones?” The breathtaking locations, the characters and of course the well developed plots have led most of the world into a deeply indebted love affair with the epic fantasy novels and subsequent HBO series. Considering the growing popularity of the series and the impeding Season 4 release date, it seems that only one person is not pleased with the chaos that surrounds “Game of Thrones”— series author George R.R. Martin. The notably thorny Martin has been feeling the heavily laded pressure recently, with Season 4 of the “Game of Thrones” TV series premiering on April 6, the series will be inching dangerously close to surpassing the author in the release of the sixth book of “A Song of Ice And Fire” series “The Winds Of Winter.”

The author who is well known for his long writing periods before books, first published “A Game of Thrones” which serves as the first book in his epic fantasy series in 1996, and didn’t introduce the second installment until 1999— three years later! His last work published for the bestselling series was back in July of 2011 when he released book five, “A Dance With Dragons.” With two more hefty installments to come, the TV series has become the monkey on Martin’s back, as fans demands grow, the network demands will most certainly be the loudest of all. Want to know the weirdest part of Martin’s long release delays? He knows how the series will end! And the plot thickens; he’s not the only one who knows what character will sit upon the Iron Throne at the end of “A Dream of Spring.” HBO show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are also privy to the ending of “Game of Thrones” on the off chance that something happens to Martin and he can't finish writing. Much to fans dismay, Martin recently announced that the series will be “done when it’s done” and no sooner than that, despite his reluctance to finish the forthcoming novels, he does know how they end and where the story is going, "I hate outlines. I have a broad sense of where the story is going; I know the end, I know the end of the principal characters, and I know the major turning points and events from the books, the climaxes for each book, but I don't necessarily know each twist and turn along the way."

Martin also explained that while he knows the ending he wants for “A Song Of Ice and Fire” anything could happen. Martin revealed that he has an alternate ending for the book series, just in case his writing doesn’t turn out like it should. He explained on Empire Magazine’s webcast that he has provided himself with an escape clause for his supposed ending, even though there is a lot more of the story of Westeros he wants to tell. "Two BIG books. 1500 manuscript pages each -- that's 3000 pages. I think I have a good shot. And you know, if I really get pressed, I've already established that red comet. I can just have it hit Westeros and wipe out all life," jokes Martin. Don’t you dare GRRM! Even though the author likes to make jokes, the epic series is his life’s work and we don’t that he would disappoint his fans by having a comet crash land and kill all of our favorite characters.
