New rumors have emerged online about the specs for Apple’s next iPhone iteration. Sources from Taiwan’s industrial chain claim that the iPhone 6 will have at least a 10-megapixel camera with f/1.8, claims Chinese website IT168. This would definitely be an improvement over the current iPhone 5S camera which features an 8-megapixel camera with a narrower f/2.2 aperture.

The report from IT168 also claims the company will change the filter used on the iPhone 6 camera, replacing the current hybrid IR filter used on the iPhone 5S with a resin lens filter manufactured by Japanese company JSR. If you don’t know, JSR is known for its ARTON Resins, which are commonly used in digital and video cameras with CMOS image sensors.

While this news is good it does contradict a recent report that said Apple would be keeping the same 8-megapixel camera as seen in the iPhone 5S according to The China Post. According to a securities analyst from Nomura Apple is set to keep the same camera but users will see improvements in other areas such as optical image stabilization.

No details or an official release date for the iPhone 6 has yet to be revealed but many speculations have been made. While it is believed the next iPhone will be arriving at WWDC others believe it will arrive this fall. Analyst have gone back and forth on the release date but nothing is certain as Apple has not announced any news.
