While touring with Jack White around Mexico, keyboardist Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens was found dead in his hotel room in Puebla. Ikey Owens was 38 and the band was allegedly leaving for the next town and thought Owens had slept-in. When Mr. White and his team heard the news they released a statement expressing their sorrow and cancelling the rest of the tour: “It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans. 

Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects. 

Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled. 

We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.”

While the cause of death was still under investigation, preliminary reports said the decease had to do with drugs and alcohol, but Jack White’s official Facebook page published the cause of death determined by the authorities was cardiac arrest.

Owens left a career in 1999 working for a financial management firm to pursue a career in music. He’d played he musician had played with Mastodon, Long Beach Dub Allstars and had just finished working on Jack White's second solo album Lazaretto, which they were touring for.
