According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 63 percent of sexual assaults are not reported to law enforcement, but after Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct allegations and after Alyssa Milano popularized the hashtag #MeToo, plus many other accusations that began to surface, producer, talent manager and record executive, Benny Medina, has been added to the “sexual offender’s sack” after American television and stage actor, Jason Dottley alleged in an article posted by The Advocate that Medina attempted to rape him.

According to Dottley, the incident occurred in December of 2008, when he and his friend T. Ashanti Mozelle met with Medina in a West Hollywood bar to later go to the manager’s Los Angeles mansion. Dotley is a well-known character in LGBT circles , but according to the article, he thought Medina’s intentions were to “hook up” with Mozelle.

“We all exchanged numbers in case we got lost getting to his house, and he gave us his address,” Dottley tells The Advocate “We drive up there and he welcomes us in and he says, ‘Do you want a tour of the house…?’ And we’re like, ‘Yes, please.’ He brings us out to his beautiful swimming pool … my friend [Mozelle] says, ‘I think I’m going to take a little dip,’ so he undresses down to his underwear. And I’m thinking to myself, 'He’s trying to get it, he’s trying to get it…" assuming Medina was completely interested in Mozelle instead of him.

After that, the “Sordid Lives” actor recalls that Medina led him to the living room and later a to a bedroom door . “There was no ‘Do you want to see my bedroom?’ We literally got to the door and he grabbed me by the chest of my shirt and threw me onto his bed. Now, I’m 6 foot tall and was 155 pounds, and this is a stocky strong man,” he says, then adds, “We all have these things playing in our heads of what would we ever do if someone ever tried to do something, and none of my preplanned motions would work.”

Dottley claims that Medina “stuck his tongue down” his mouth and he told him to stop because he was married pointing to his wedding ring. He also alleged that after the resistance came the aggressiveness and crying, he begged Medina to stop. “His forearm was bearing down on my neck so hard that I don’t know how much longer I would have remained conscious.”

Dottley said he doesn’t remember how long the tussle lasted, but the time was long enough for Mozelle, who was on the pool area, to worry and walk over to Medina’s bedroom and find the scene. “It could have been intuition or whatever, but I randomly decided to get out of the pool to finish touring and I walked into [Medina’s] room, and he was on top of Jason,” Mozelle says.

As presented by the publication, Mozelle asked Medina to “Get off him!” and both friends ran out. Dottley claims Medina, a few days later, sent him a text message saying: “Hey, I’m at The Ivy eating. Just saw you walking across the street. Is that the husband I have to have kill to have you?’” Dottley texted Medina back to tell him he was a “disgusting, horrible person and to not ever text me again.”

After 10 years, this is the first time Dottley opens up on the incident, and only few people knew about what had happened. According to the publication, Jason’s ex-husband never knew until now. When the news broke, Medina's attorneys responded releasing a statement to The Advocate saying that his client, "categorically denies the allegation of attempted rape."
