She got it from her mama! Jennifer Lopez revealed during an interview with E! News host Maria Menounos that her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, is the one to thank for her killer dance moves, especially “the shimmy.”

“By the way, I remember when you taught me how to do ‘the shimmy’ and you were like, ‘it is all in the knees,’ and I do it all the time now,” Menounos told JLo before she jumped in saying, “My mother taught me that.”

She continued, “Because girls shake different now, and she taught me when I was like two or three years old how to do it. You know what I mean, like they’d put you up on the table and said, ‘menéalo, menéalo,’ which means shake, and I’d do that. But now girls are twerking and doing all kinds of [moves], but I stick to what I know.”

The 46-year-old singer also mentioned that even though her Vegas show, “All I Have,” demands a lot from her and her dancers, performance-wise, she still has to hit the gym every morning to get the body loose and be prepared for the high-energy concert.

“I work out in the morning,” the “Shades of Blue” star confessed. “It’s a physically demanding show. Just like a basketball player, think of it like a basketball player, they do a morning practice and then at night they have the game.”

She added, “You just can’t shock…you can’t just get out there and shock yourself, you know what I mean? Then I warm up right before the show.”

The bootylicious singer gets physical with celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, with whom she does choreography-heavy routines for 45 minutes, sometimes an hour. David Kirsch is also in the picture when it comes to the singer’s fitness routine.

Lopez’s show will be playing at the AXIS theatre located in Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, until December 17…for now.
