Jorge Salinas Hospitalized After Eye Drop Mix-Up Causes 'Extreme Pain'

44-year-old Telanovela star Jorge Salinas was rushed to a New York hospital on Sunday after a celebrity appearance celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Flushing, Queens. The actor stars in the telenovela "Que' Bonito Amor."

After his appearance during which, Jorge Salinas was dressed in mariachi attire the actor went to drop what he though was eye medication into his right eye. Salinas mixed up the droppers used for the eye medicine and his makeup dissolvent.

Jorge Salinas was rushed to the hospital after suffering "extreme pain" from dropping the makeup remover into his eye.

Salvador Mejia, producer of the telenovella "Que' Bonito Amor" told People Magazine En Espanol that they are all very concerned about Jorge Salinas adding, (rough translation) "Hopefully he is well."

In 2011 Salinas was hospitalized a number of times due to his poor health.

Yahoo News reports that in 2011 Jorge Salinas was hospitalized with pneumonia, then cardiovascular problems and again to keep an eye on a clot he developed in his lungs.

Yahoo reports that the veteran telanovela star is still suffering from lung problems. On screen fans would not be able to tell the actor was ill. He shows no signs of being out of breath or nor has he been seen trying to gasp for air.

After being attended at the hospital, the actor and singer returned to the 5 de Mayo event in flushing, Queens with no apparent problems in his vision.
