Weeks after Laura Núñez, PR agent of José José said, according to Primera Hora, that José José was “cancer free,” it's being reported that El Príncipe De La Canción is back in the hospital.

In March 2017, José José announced that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Months after chemo and a surgery, his doctors were positive that he would survive. In November, the singer had a surgery at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición in Mexico City for a little over four hours, led by oncologist Carlos Chan, specialist in liver and pancreas cancer, that according to Núñez was a success. "They‘ve [the doctors] already operated him, he is in great shape, he is in recovery and everything is fine, he is cancer free, he doesn’t have that disease anymore,” Núñez said. “In fact, the surgery wasn’t scheduled, he had medical exams early. We came to do his the routine studies to do the surgery in the future, but considering that everything was favorable and coincided with the expectations of the surgeon, José José told him, 'once and for all, be encouraged.'"

"Al Rojo Vivo" reported that even though José José is at the hospital, his daughter, Marisol Sosa and Laura Núñez confirmed that the singer is not in intensive therapy but in a regular room to follow up and check on his health condition after the surgery.

The statements of both deny a publication in a Mexican magazine where they claim that the singer's life is in danger. "Thank God he is fine," Sosa said. "We came back [to the hospital] because he had surgery a month ago, not because he’s in his death bed," said the singer's daughter. In the same way, Núñez also informed “Al Rojo Vivo” that they were dosing his insulin treatment and they were giving him the instructions of the new doses that he should use from now on.

The singer's daughter also says that he doesn’t suffer from depression and he is just tired. "He is not depressed, just tired. They removed a tumor from the pancreas and a piece of the organ," she reports.

Though the 69-year-old is very sick and as a result has lost a lot of weight, he states that he's not ready to die. I've got a thousand things to do at all levels, personally and professionally," he told to TV y Novelas in 2015.

The "El Triste" singer, however, does have an idea of how he wants to die, and similar to "La Chilindrina," he'd like to be cremated. "I asked to be cremated and that half of my ashes go to Veracruz and the other half to Acapulco," he told TV y Novelas. "Although I'm not the one to decide, because I belong to the public; then it's whatever they want. It's what God and my audience desire," he added.
