Most of the time, when you go to the movies you already have in mind what to expect. You have done your research, checked ratings and read reviews to know exactly what you are going in for.

But once in a while, there comes a film so unexpected — mixing action, drama, lots of comedy and even some romance — that it blows your mind. As simple as that. To top it all off, the whole plot revolves around the cutest kitten you will ever see. And just like that, “Keanu” was born.

Honestly, the movie probably went through a lot more before it was even conceived, but boy aren’t we happy it is in theaters now!

“Keanu” marks the first time the enormously popular comedy duo, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele — known as Key and Peele — have brought their talents together on to the big screen.

In the film, they play Clarence and Rell, two decidedly un-street-wise guys who are forced to assume the personas of hardcore killers in order to blend into a street gang and, with any luck, survive.

They are not doing it for the money or the power. All they want is the thing that stole Rell’s heart and was stolen from him: an adorable kitten named Keanu.

“Our Kitten, Keanu, is so irresistibly cute that everyone who comes in contact with him immediately falls in love,” director Peter Atencio said. “So whether you’re a ruthless drug lord or a murderous assassin or just a guy going through a hard time, you’re instantly smitten.”

The film also stars Method Man, Tiffany Haddish, Luis Guzmán, Nia Long, Will Forte, Jason Mitchell, Darrell Britt-Gibson and Jamar Neighbors.

“Keanu” was directed by Peter Atencio, with a script written by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens, and produced by Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Peter Principato, Paul Young and Joel Zadak.

Latin Times had the opportunity to sit down with Key and Peele, and Will Forte and Jason Mitchell, and this is what they had to say Keanu” and why you should definitely go see it!

It is important to acknowledge that seven tiny, brown tabbies divided acting chores to portray Rell’s beloved kitten, Keanu.

“All of the kittens were rescued from shelters, so they truly went from rags to riches,” animal trainer April Mackin said. And if you want to have your own Keanu, contact North Shore Animal League America and ask for the “Keanu” kittens; they’ll know what you’re talking about! Or, visit your nearest shelter and give a cat a new and better life.
