The Kardashian clan is used to being the center of controversy and Kendall Jenner is receiving huge backlash after taking part in a Pepsi ad. The commercial has Jenner in a photo shoot when she later joins a protest going on outside. She strips off all of her glam and joins the protestors. To make peace with police, Kendall offers a Pepsi to an officer and all is well in the world. When the advert hit the web, the outcry ensued as it was perceived that a movement like Black Lives Matter was being mocked.

Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King, spoke out against Pepsi and wrote on Twitter: "If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi."

After the huge backlash, Pepsi announced that it was pulling the commercial. "Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize," the company said in a statement. "We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout."

Although Kendall Jenner was the face of the commercial, TMZ cites that she was not involved in the creative process. Jenner is receiving the blame because she starred in the ad, but she had no say in the idea. In the announcement by Pepsi they specifically apologize to Jenner for putting her in this position.
