This past Tuesday (Oct. 4), Kid Cudi dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he was in deep bout with depression. The Ohio rapper spoke on his decision to enter rehab because of his suicidal urges, despite his new album looming.

"It's been difficult for me to find the words to what I'm about to share with you because I feel ashamed," the rapper wrote on Facebook .

"Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I've been living a lie. It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans."

Despite his hindrances, Cudi is an uber-talented musician with a plethora of hits and songwriting credits to his name. While the path to happiness and fulfillment will be an arduous one, we’re more than confident that Cudi’s blessing will appear right before his eyes. In case you’re unfamiliar with the Ohio upstart, get familiar with KC.

9. Like his former mentor Kanye West, Cudi is a college drop-out. He attended the University of Toledo for film before dropping after his freshman year. “I had so many big dreams," he once told The Plain Dealer. "But Ohio wasn't the place for me to execute them." When we first interviewed him and asked about his smoking habits, he compared label meetings to school. "It was so boring, like I was in college again."

10. He was discovered and later signed by Kanye West in 2008. He has writing credits for some of Kanye’s biggest songs from his 808s and Heartbreak album in “Heartless” and “Paranoid.”
