CARSON – It took a supermoon to bring out the LA Galaxy's superstars on Sunday night as the team ended their three match scoreless streak with a 3-2 victory over FC Dallas, skyrocketing LA to the top of the Western Conference and Supporters' Shield standings.

Giovani Dos Santos and Robbie Keane scored twice in the first fifteen minutes of the match, ending the scoring drought, and Steven Gerrard netted his first goal since his home debut in the second half as the Galaxy hung on to defeat Dallas, their first win since Aug. 23

Dos Santos and Keane each had a goal and an assist as they took turns finding each other in the first half. Keane played a ball into the box in the 11th minute to Gyasi Zardes who sent the ball toward the near post to Dos Santos who slipped the ball into the net.

The Galaxy extended their lead two minutes later when Dos Santos split two defenders dumping off a beautiful pass to Keane in the center of the box who lifted his shot past FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez and into the far right side of the net.

Dallas would not come undone however, answering the bell in the 35th minute as they took advantage of their blistering speed to get back into the game. Victor Ullou sent a long valley deep into the Galaxy zone and Michael Barrios beat Robbie Rogers to the ball, heading in a lob shot that landed over the outstretched arm of a misplaced Donovan Ricketts for the goal.

The Galaxy started the second half the same way they started the first, with a goal in the first 15 minutes.

After a foul was called on Matt Hedges for a rough tackle on Sebastian Lletget gave the Galaxy a corner kick, Dos Santos served one up for Keane in the center of the box who's shot was blocked by Gonzalez. The rebound went right to Gerrard who netted the Galaxy's third and most important goal.

FC Dallas would retaliate with a goal of their own off a corner kick in the 86th minute, making for a pressure packed final eight minutes as Dallas looked for the equalizer.

Head Coach Bruce Arena made some defensive substitutions in the final few moments, allowing the Galaxy to hang on to the lead and earning three crucial points giving them 50 on the season, the first team in the MLS to reach that milestone.

Up next for the Galaxy is a visit to Seattle to take on the rival Sounders next Sunday from CenturyLink Field.
