Ana Velasco is the “new girl in town” on the acclaimed series “La Querida Del Centauro” now in its second season on Telemundo. The character of a woman warrior is played by Mexican beautiful actress Sandra Echeverría (“Busco Novio Para Mi Mujer,” “Amor De Mis Amores.”)

Sandra considers this new role as a challenge for her as a 16-year seasoned actress who, for the first time, acts out as a powerful woman who has to fight (literally) and play with guns against her enemies seeking for revenge after his father's murder.

Her character’s power and presence it’s outstanding. We chat with her about this kind of “Latin Tomb Raider girl” she actually plays and her new ventures for this year.

LT: Tell us about this new role on “La Querida del Centauro.”

SE: Well, my character is Ana Velasco, the surgeon’s daughter killed by the Centauro. I come into the series trying to seek revenge so I prepared myself at a Military School where Ana trains really hard. For this role I had to prepare myself both physically and mentally. It has a lot action so I had to manage different kinds of guns and learned how to fight. I’ve learned a lot about how to break with fears because I am a passive person so I had to add some adrenaline to my life.

LT: How do you feel as a woman with this kind of character?

SE: I loved it. I loved portraying a warrior woman, a leader, and super intelligent, feminist. I love strong women and much more to representing them on the screen. I think this is the strongest woman I’ve ever played in my career.

LT: How do you feel working with Ludwika Paleta, Humberto Zurita and Michel Brown?

SE: Great! I have worked with them before. With Michel I had the opportunity to worked in my first Telenovela when I was 18 years old so this one was like a reencounter. I also worked with Ludwika on a movie we did together some years before, to me she’s one of the best actresses of her generation. I also admire Humberto and I have learned a lot from him since the first time we worked together. He has done an amazing job on this series, this is the best character I have seen from him, I absolutely love it.

LT: What's different from this series to all the other ones with the drug trafficking topic?

SE: People think it’s a “Narco- Telenovela” but this story goes around the obsession "the Centauro" has with Ludwika’s character so it turns out to be a psychological crime. It has a lot of action, suspense and science fiction. I was hooked from the first time I started reading the script.

LT: Do you have any projects on the Hollywood scene?

SE: I love working and finding new projects. I love doing something different every time I act. So I am totally open but I understand the Hollywood market is very tight. It’s not easy. I think I am lucky because I have been in many productions in that market. I never give up.

LT: You will finish this year with a new movie; tell us about “El Terremoto”?

SE: Yes! In September I will be in the movie "El Terremoto" movie with Kuno Becker. It is about 1985 earthquake in Mexico. We’ll have a great premiere with two thousand screens projection. It is a very dramatic film... an intense thriller. I am also on pre-production of a new romantic comedy I will start shooting soon along Osvaldo Benavides. I love comedies so I am very excited about it.

LT: What about making music as you used to?

SE: I am very into “La Querida del Centauro” series. I love composing and instead of saving my music on my laptop I better like to share it with my fans on the social media. So, that's what I'm doing now.

"La Querida del Centauro" Season 2 airs weeknights at 9pm/8c on Telemundo.
