One of Kate Del Castillo's most successful projects was "La Reina Del Sur." In the Telemundo narco-series, the Mexican actress gave life to Teresa Mendoza, a woman that turns to drug trafficking after her boyfriend involves her in that world. A new report suggests that the author of the original book, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, is working on a sequel to the acclaimed series and Del Castillo spilled the beans on the process.

"I have a trip to Spain coming up to maybe see 'La Reina Del Sur 2'. I will be seeing [the author] over there," the actress told La Opinion. She also said that the sequel has been in the works since the original series ended. "Ever since I finished they wanted to do a second part, but I never wanted to do it because I think it was such a hit that things should've just stayed the way they are," she added. "There is no second book. Several years have passed and the way they told me the story would go, it attracted me more."

It was back in the Telemundo Upfront 2012, that the Spanish-language network announced that a sequel for "La Reina" was in the works. The project never came to fruition, but fans of the series have been asking for it since the original concluded. As you may remember, Teresa left the business at the end to focus her attention on her child, that she did not want to grow up in that cruel world.

Kate del Castillo is not sure where in the process the author is at, but said in the interview she wants to talk to him to get the details. "I don't know if he has the book or not," she said. "I do know that he's thinking about it and that he wants to do it. That makes me happy and that is why I want to sit down with him so he can tell me how it's coming along. But I do want him to write a book. It would be ideal that it would come out at the same time as the series."
