Last Minute Halloween Costume: Vamp Lips Tutorial For Perfect Holiday Look

A dark vampy lip is super mysterious and chic and there's no better time to rock one than Halloween. Weather you want to get into the Halloween mood of things, or need a last-minute costume, this dark lip look is one that will demand attention while looking great. If you're intimidated at the idea of sporting a bold lip, then fret not — we've got three fail-proof tips from L'Oreal Paris ambassador Claudia Betancur:

1. First outline your lips with a deep red lip pencil like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in 69, then fill in your lips completely. This will serve as a base to help the color last longer.
2. Apply a generous amount of lipstick or lip gloss like L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Ruby Opera 304 which is highly pigmented and will keep lips hydrated and look plump and luscious.
3. Perfect the lip by using a concealer and lightly lining the rim of your lips to create a defined shape.

If you're prone to flaky lips, then be sure to exfoliate your lips beforehand. You can purchase a special exfoliator catered to sloughing off dead skin from lips, or opt for an at-home concoction by mixing two parts sugar with one part oil. You can also apply a generous amount of Vaseline (Waxlene is a great organic alternative) and then use a towel to rub off the dead skin after a few minutes.
