Lili Estefan and Raúl de Molina were in hot water after it appeared to be defending Eduardo Yáñez following a violent act against their own reporter Paco Fuentes. The "El Gordo y La Flaca" co-hosts scolded the journalist for not knowing enough of psychology to back off when Yáñez got aggressive and even made a joke about Paco now being able to take Canelo in the boxing ring. At the top of the Univision entertainment show, they offered an apology to the reporter, viewers and the press for the insensitive comments.

"Before starting out we want to reiterate our position of no violence in any way," De Molina said reading off the prompter. Lili added: "On our show yesterday, we made comments that could've been interpreted, even better said misinterpreted, like we were justifying Eduardo Yáñez' action against our reporter. We want to apologize to Paco, our audience and our colleagues who are members of the press because in no way did we want to do this."

Estefan continued: "Firstly I want to apologize to our reporter Paco Fuentes, we want to make it clear that he was simply doing his job and nothing justifies the action by Eduardo Yáñez. Second, to our audience and third we want to make it clear that under no concept or at any moment it was our intention for this type of violence." Raúl then said: "Finally to all of our colleagues of the press that expose themselves to these types of situations every day, we give you our support and respect."

Lili went on to say she had a conversation with Eduardo Yáñez and he agreed to appear on the show next week to talk about the incident. "I had the opportunity to personally talk to him this morning," she said. "He said that he had apologized on social network but I asked... I felt like it was necessary that he come to the show and tell Paco directly that he was wrong. Eduardo promised to be here next week with us but at the moment he is not in conditions to do so." Lili and Raúl's apology comes after Univision sent out their own statement condeming what the telenovelas actor did to their reporter. "Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, condemns the act of violence perpetrated on October 10 by Eduardo Yáñez on Univision reporter Paco Fuentes", the statement reads. "Univision News demands respect for the physical safety of its reporters and expresses complete disapproval of any senseless act of violence against them. Censorship and acts of violence against journalists are reproachable no matter the source."

Paco Fuentes appeared on "El Gordo y La Flaca" yesterday to talk about the incident, but Lili Estefan was not all that supportive to his fellow work companion. She told Fuentes that maybe he would understand why the actor got mad when he had his own kids. The reporter insisted that it had nothing to do with Yáñez' son as he made a general query to know his thoughts on going online and asking for funding.

Estefan also said that if she was in that position she would've stopped when Yañez started cursing and would "personally respect him as he started saying he didn't talk about his personal life." Lili went on to soften her stand by saying she would never justify the slap.

The entertainment reporter also said that after the incident he was left thinking if he could've done something different to not cause that reaction from the telenovela star. Raúl de Molina answered "nothing wrong" and Lili chimed in saying "maybe a little psychology." "When you see that Eduardo Yañez gets mad, maybe stop there," she said laughing.
