Daphne’s case caught the media’s attention back in March, when her father, Javier Fernández, released a video featuring four young men (“Los Porkys”) allegedly confessing to have raped his teenage daughter last year. After the clip went viral, the Fernández family addressed the situation on social media.

“I ask myself, ‘Why haven’t they been arrested?’ the victim’s dad wrote on Facebook. “‘Is it true that it’s all been arranged and that they won’t do anything to them because of who they are and where they come from, and because some of them have political ties?’ ‘Why is there no punishment or justice? Why?’”

When the news broke, reports revealed that “Los Porkys,” Enrique Capitaine, Gerardo Rodríguez, Diego Cruz Alonso and Jorge Cotaita, had been sent to other countries to avoid having contact with the different news outlets. Capitaine and Cotaita were last seen travelling to the United States, while Cruz Alonso supposedly headed to Spain.

In the last few months, the Fernandez family has received a lot of support, but also a lot of hate from people following the case.

On Thursday, Daphne decided to break silence for the first time since the scandal went public to ask her followers to “please, stop being hypocrites” and to stop treating her story as a “telenovela.”

“I am tired of people being hypocrites, I’m asking you, please, if you are going to share comments against me or my dad, just unfriend me,” Daphne wrote on Facebook. “I have already unfriended a lot of people I know for sharing things that are not true but I no matter what I do, I keep getting similar kind of news.”

She continues, “I have read a lot of comments that say that this is turning into a telenovela, and the worst part is that I agree. Now picture yourself living it, waking up every morning and dealing with the same drama every day, the same problem, they same hell, the same nightmare that doesn’t seem to end.”

Last month, sources disclosed the PGR (Procuraduría General de la República) had requested a red notice from the Interpol to help find the suspects overseas. As of now, there are no updates on the location of the individuals.
