As you prepare for your 4th of July holiday, you must remember one important thing, fireworks! Macy's is celebrating Independence Day with the 37th annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show which will light up the NYC skyline over the Hudson River.

Macy's firework show is the nation's largest and grandest 4th of July show, featuring 40,000 fireworks igniting over the Hudson. The pyrotechnic show is synchronized to a 26-minute handpicked soundtrack. The original soundtrack will include hit songs from, Jimi Hendrix, Rihanna, Frank Sinatra and others, curated by pop-star Usher. The all-star musical lineup continues with pre-taped performances from, Nick Cannon, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey and Tim McGraw.

You can watch the spectacular fireworks show on TV or better yet you can catch them in person, here's what you'll need to know!

When to watch

The fireworks begin Thursday, July 4, at approximately 9:25 p.m. The two-hour national broadcast will air on NBC at 8 p.m.

Where to watch

To catch the show in person, remember that the fireworks are being sent off from barges positioned in the Hudson River between 24th Street and 42nd Street. So to catch the best views head to 12th Avenue, below 59th Street at the following access points along 11th Avenue: 24th Street, 26th Street, 27th Street, 29th Street, 33rd Street, 34th Street, 40th Street, 42nd Street, 44th Street, 50th Street, 52nd Street, 54th Street, 56th Street, 57th Street.

Creative organizers for Macy's have revealed that the show will feature original and stunning fireworks that include sparkling jellyfish, glittering butterflies and winking smiley faces. "It looks like pyrotechnical chaos at first, then it reins itself in," said show co-designer Gary Souza.
