Margarita Isabel Dies At 75 Years Old

Margarita Isabel died at the age of 80 following respiratory complications, Aristegui Online confirms. It was revealed that the Mexican actress died at the Hospital Center of Cuernavaca, Morelos. Isabel was no longer active in telenovelas or the acting world, her last appearance on the small screen was in a guest starring role on "Soy Tu Dueña," opposite Lucero and Fernando Colunga in 2010. Margarita Isabel was a self-proclaimed left winger and participated in the student movement in México 1968, according to Televisa. During the last decade she dedicated her life to writing, gardening and producing for her son, actor Mario Iván Martínez.

Margarita Isabel participated in many telenovelas throughout her career. One of her most prolific works as in “La Madrastra,” where she was one of the suspects of killing Patricia. She played the role of Carmela San Román, sister of Alba, played by Jacqueline Andere. Another one of her delicious characters on tv was Alejandra Madrigal de Horta on "Amarte Es Mi Pecado." The telenovela produced by the legendary Ernesto Alonso, which was his penultimate work, is a cult classic. Isabel played a vicious woman that passes her own daughter as her niece because she is not gracious looking. She makes her life hell and doesn't pass on a chance to humiliate her.

Tiaré Scanda, who played the character of Casilda on the telenovela, expressed her sentiment on Twitter following news of her passing: "I loved Margarita Isabel" profoundly. I will always be grateful with her and Mario Iván and I will always remember her laughing."
