The Met Gala, also known as “the Oscars of fashion,” is taking place tonight, and we ae extremely excited to see all the glamorous looks!

Every year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit has a theme for the exhibit its opening and the 2016 theme is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” Of course, Anna Wintour continues as chairwoman of the gala. Co-hosting the event are Apple Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive, actor Idris Elba and singer Taylor Swift. The honorary chairs are Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere and Muccia Prada.

Lagerfeld, however, will not be in attendance as he is already in Havana, Cuba, working on his Cruise Resort show that is set to take place May 3. The show is rumored to be his last due to his deteriorating health, but nothing has been confirmed.

As far as the guest list goes, all we know is that each year it is impossible to know who is going with absolute certainty. Even though tickets run for up to $30,000 a piece, Wintour has to approve every single attendant along with Vogue. That same policy applies even if a brand buys a whole table.

How to watch

Some say the event just got a little less exclusive with E! Entertainment doing a live coverage of the red carpet for the first time ever. The transmission is set to start at 7 p.m. ET, or you can also watch it on The New York Times Facebook live stream here. You can also take the traditional route and watch celebs arrive via Vogue.com. The Met website also has plenty of options where you can follow the event.
