Donald Trump is reportedly set to win the Republican nomination after Ted Cruz announced he was dropping out of the presidential race earlier this week.

“We left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we’ve got but the voters chose another path,” Cruz said in his speech. “So with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign.”

People across the country are still hoping for Democrat candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders to be victorious in the upcoming elections, however, the possibility of Trump walking away with the President of the United States title is starting to become a reality.

For this reason, the Mexican government has referred to the GOP front-runner a “threat” and “an emergency” that must be rapidly addressed.

As you may recall, one of Trump’s most outrageous campaign proposals is to build a wall. “A wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for,” declares the presidential hopeful in one of his TV ads.

During a recent interview, SEGOB’s Immigration Subsecretary Humberto Roque explains that Mexico has been working towards possible solutions for many of the problems that Trump will bring to the country if elected.

“Basically, the confirmation of his solo path as candidate materializes what he has been representing until today, that he is a threat and an emergency,” Roque told Milenio Television.

He continued, “Without a doubt, it [Trump’s presidency] is something to worry about, but the decisions of other nations have to be respect. We can’t predict how Americans will vote, and we can’t have a preference either. But what we can do is recognize that Trump exaggerates on his opinions about Mexicans in the United States and he doesn’t value what they do for the country.”

Roque pointed out that the first changes in the government’s approach have already been made with the hiring of José Paulo Carreño King as North America’s Subsecretary, and Carlos Pérez Verdía as President Enrique Peña Nieto’s Advice Coordinator.

Back in March, the Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, addressed the situation during a meeting with EPN where he apologized for Trump’s “damaging and incredibly inaccurate rhetoric.”

In addition, Biden pointed out that the relation between Mexico and the U.S. has more benefits that what the GOP candidate is trying to convey.

“United States and Mexico now make more than 1.5 billion dollars of trade per day. 6 million American workers have their jobs because of trade with Mexico. United States sells more to Mexico, than we do to Brazil, Russia, India and China combined, and 80% of Mexico’s exports go to the United States,” Biden asserted. “We are…I’ll use an old expression we use back home: ‘We are joined by the hip.’ We benefit significantly from each other.”
