Business travel has become a key tool for the development of business and Mexico has positioned itself as one of the favorite destinations for entrepreneurs. According to Corporate Travel Services (CTS), Mexico ranks third as a destination for business travel after Brazil and Argentina, with a steady growth of about 12 percent in the number of visitors per year. In a statement, the company emphasized that business travel has become indispensable for the modern entrepreneur, representing the second largest controllable expense for companies after payroll.

Francisco Cuevas, deputy director of CTS, said that business tourism has increased 20 percent in the past two years at the national level where a corporate level employe travels 20 times more than an SME employee. He explained that having the advice of specialists in business travel couldallow savings for travel expenses of up to 20 percent. "It is important for companies to have good planning of expenditure on business trips and have the advice of specialists in the field in order to optimize both accommodation and air and land transportation," he said.

He said that companies that spend on business travel will invest 80 percent for air tickets, 17 percent for housing and a remaining 3.0 percent on land travel. Cuevas stated that 74 percent of all travelers, fly to domestic destinations while 26 percent take international flights. To date, the beaches are the most popular destinations for both domestic and international tourists particularly Acapulco, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
