Chicharito plays Goalie

Mexico manager Miguel Herrera announced his starting XI at the team’s press conference on Sunday and to no one’s surprise, Javier “El Chicharito” Hernandez was not named in the staring lineup for the third World Cup game in a row.

Herrera is sticking with the same lineup he has started in Mexico’s first two Group A games against Cameroon and Brazil. Mexico has so far been able to keep a clean slate through their first two matches, one more and they will be into the knockout round.

Most fans of El Tri are still talking about Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa and his record breaking saves in the last match versus Brazil. However, it is his potential back up that has everyone clamoring in the Mexican camp this week.

Ahead of their match up against Croatia on Monday, Chicharito was spotted between the pipes during training sessions at Estádio Rei Pelé. The young forward didn’t look too bad in goal and proved to be quite the ample back up in case any of the other three goalies on the Mexican national team get hurt before Croatia. Take a look at Chicharito in goal for yourself in the video below and see what you think. He might not be Memo yet, but who knows, in four years we could be seeing Chicharito in net for El Tri.
