Mijares was recently spotted in Houston, where he was supporting the Mexican National Soccer Team at the 2016 Copa América. Before that, he was making the rounds with Emmanuel in their joint tour "Emmanuel y Mijares." But the fun and games have come to a halt for the Mexican singer as he revealed that his health is at risk.
Born as Manuel Mijares, the adult-contemporary pop singer, shared an alarming post on Instagram, letting his nearly 30K fans know that he is in the hospital.
"I just underwent surgery for a small problem I had in the cervical area," he stated Monday. "Fortunately, and thank God, everything went very well," he added. The news was announced with a photo collage showing the aftermath of the surgery. "I'm recuperating," he continued. "I share some images of my time in the hospital and the result of the surgery," he noted, along with virtual hugs for everyone.
The 58-year-old artist, responsible for hits such as "Te Prometi," "Soldado de Amor" and "El Privilegio de Amar," is keeping fans in the loop and posted a second photo of himself in his hospital gown.
"As you can see, I am recuperating just bien," he said. "The love of my fans has always been fundamental to overcome any challenge," he added, before assuring fans that his tour with Emmanuel will resume as planned. "Almost ready to see each other on June 17 in the National Auditorium. I'll wait for you there," he wrote, using the hashtags #QueSigaLaMúsica #Mijares and #TworAmigos.
Mijares embarked his musical career in 1985, becoming one of the biggest sensation in Latin pop music during the '90s. Starting his trajectory at 23 years old, the singer was all the rage in Latin America and Japan at that time.
He has recorded over 20 albums and sang the opening theme for five telenovelas, including "Corazón salvaje," "El Privilegio de Amar (feat. Lucero)" and "Rebeca."
He was also married to Mexican songstress Lucero for 14 years and together had two children.
