As the saying goes, when one door closes, a window opens. Wilmer Valderrama is officially the newest “NCIS” agent, CBS confirmed on Friday.

Valderrama, who recently announced his breakup with long-time girlfriend Demi Lovato, is ready to gear up and join television’s #1 drama fourteenth season.

“Wilmer Valderrama will be able to flex his dramatic, physical, and comedic talents in this classic ‘NCIS’ role,” said Executive Producer Gary Glasberg. “Fans are going to see him like they’ve never seen him before. This is going to be fun. We’re thrilled he’s coming aboard.”

According to the network, Valderrama’s character will emerge from a years-long deep cover assignment, with many of his colleagues unaware that he was still working there, or even alive. Formerly known as a grounded field agent, his dedication to the job and the country has turned him into an unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon.

The 36-year-old actor’s entry comes after Michael Weatherly’s shocking exit announcement last season.

“He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today – the No.1 drama in the world,” CBS said in a statement. “We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

The “That ‘70s Show” star recently ended his storyline in the ABC drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” Prior to that, he starred in FOX’s short-lived TV reboot of the film “Minority Report.” He also participated in Robert Rodriguez’s “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.”

“Thrilled to be joining @NCIS_CBS,” Valderrama wrote on Twitter. “We are gonna have some fun…And expect the unexpected…#NCIS”

The show’s star, Pauley Perrette, immediately welcomed the actor to the team.

“Welcome to out beloved #NCIS family @WValderrama Let’s have some fun,” she tweeted.

We can’t wait to see what these talented actors have in store for us throughout “NCIS” season 14. Stay tuned!
