Looking to rebound from a down campaign this past season, the New York Giants will be looking for multiple ways to upgrade their roster heading into the 2014-2015 schedule. Dropping the first six games of their 2013-2014 campaign, New York displayed the inability to run the football effectively and protect the quarterback, something that will surely need to change if the 2011-2012 Super Bowl Champions are to make a strong run at the NFC East title and beyond once September rolls around. Quarterback Eli Manning struggled mightily as well last season but if Giants higher-ups are able to solidify the backfield and line in front of the two-time Super Bowl MVP, the team will surely have a solid chance at being consistent and more competitive once again.

While the Giants will undoubtedly look to re-sign organizational free agents in defensive tackle Linval Joseph, safety Stevie Brown – who missed all of last season with an ACL injury – cornerback Terrell Thomas, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and running back Andre Brown among others, multiple reports indicate that 1,000-yard rusher Knowshon Moreno is high on New York's radar as well. The Giants have always prioritized the defensive line but because the offensive line and ground attack is in serious need of improvement, New York GM Jerry Reese and team officials will certainly take a good look at Moreno, who was born and raised in New Jersey before heading to the University of Georgia.

Though last season's opening week starter David Wilson is expected back from a neck injury, there is no guarantee that he will be able to withstand long amounts of time on the field without experiencing pain and possible setbacks. The organization would love to re-sign Andre Brown but with a deep free agent running back pool that includes the 26-year-old Moreno, the Giants will explore multiple options at a position they need increased production from. Moreno rushed for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 regular season games for Denver in 2013, the most productive season of his five-year career. While free agent backs in Ben Tate, Maurice Jones-Drew, LeGarrette Blount, James Starks and others will receive their fair share of interest, the Giants are expected to focus their attention on Moreno.

With the ability to provide extra blocking for quarterback Eli Manning and the knack for strong pass-catching skills out of the backfield -- two skills the Giants desperately need out of their backs -- Knowshon Moreno would be a solid fit for the four-time World Champions. Fans of both will just need to wait and see the traveled path these parties take during the offseason.
