Oprah Winfrey started a whirlwind of a media frenzy after she said in an interview she was victim of racism in a recent trip to Zürich, Switzerland. The talkshow queen said a shopgirl at an upscale boutique refused to let her see crocodile skin bag on the grounds that she couldn't afford it. Now Winfrey is experiencing cognitive dissonance and feels "sorry" for having it "blown up."

"I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I purposefully did not mention the name of the store. I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland." the media mogul said at "The Butler" premiere in L.A. last night according to TMZ.

Once Oprah made the incident public on an American show, it stopped being just an incident in Zürich. Oprah can't back down now and she should know that everything that comes out of her mouth has an effect on society. She is the one responsible for initiating the reusable shopping bag craze, she had a hand in the success of "The Secret" (both film and book), she had a negative effect on the beef industry after a Mad Cow disease episode and launched the career of Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and Nate Berkus after being featured on her show.

The Swiss shopgirl has lashed back at Oprah and called her a liar for not being honest about what happened during her visit to the boutique.

"It is absolutely not true that I declined to show her the bag on racist grounds. I even asked her if she wanted to look at the bag. She looked around the store again but didn't say anything else. Then she went with her companion to the lower floor. My colleague saw them to the door. They were not even in the store for five minutes."
