Alfredo Talavera, a.ka. "Tala" made 14 saves, and Mexico found the equalizer against Peru in the 76th minute thanks to a Juan Carlos Valenzuela.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw as El Tri and Peru were getting in their final tune up before the start of the 2015 Copa America in Chile next week.

Peru opened the scoring in the 63rd minute off of a sloppy turnover by Mexico. Midfielder Joel Sánchez sprinted down the center of the pitch passing to Guerrero in the right side of the box.

Guerrero's shot deflected off of a sliding Hugo Ayala as the defender tried to kick the ball out of bounds. Instead, the ball ricocheted off the near post and behind Tala where Jefferson Farfán beat Gerardo Flores to the ball as both players crashed into the net in a bizzare goal.

Mexico found the equalizer thirteen minutes later when Valenzuela, headed in a Luis Montes free kick and despite being outplayed, El Tri tied the game at 1-1.

Tala was spectacular in the match, making 14 saves flashing tremendous goalkeeper skills, as he was easily the man of the match.

Javier Aquino started the match after coming off the bench as a substitute against Guatemala. Mexico's manager, Miguel Herrera, gave Aquino an opportunity to shine, but he did very little to impress.

El Tri was limited offensively for most of the match. Part of that was Peru's stifling defense; the other part was the lack of firepower without Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Giovani dos Santos and Carlos Vela.

Peru was impressive for a team that isn't even ranked in the top 60 in the most current FIFA World Rankings. Peru seemed primed for the upset on Wednesday and looks good heading into the Copa America next week in Chile.

Javier Güemez came into the game in the 59th minute and was effective in just a small sample size on the pitch. Güemez replaced " Juan Carlos Medina, a.k.a "Negrito" on the pitch and both midfielders appear to have earned the confidence of Miguel Herrera and will most likely start in the Copa America Tournament.
