Colombian striker Radamel Falcao was spotted recently enjoying a little vacation with his family in Miami. The soccer star was caught with his wife Lorelei Taron and his baby daughter, Dominique García. They looked happy as they soaked in the Florida sun and relaxed by the pool and later at the beach. The 28-year-old is recovering from a knee injury that prevented him to play at the World Cup to everyone’s surprise, and instead of going to Brazil to cheer for his country in the middle of the action, he decided to stay in a more relaxed environment, more suited for his recovery.

The world definitely was shocked when, a little over a week before the World Cup began, Falcao announced he was stepping down from the soccer tournament. He was supposed to be one of Colombia’s key players in their first World Cup appearance since 1998. However, Falcao couldn’t make it because he didn’t recover in time from a knee injury he suffered playing with his club, AS Monaco. The striker had scored nine goals in 17 appearances for Monaco during last term, and many were hoping he would bring his native country some luck in soccer’s biggest tournament.

"It's a difficult time. I would have been thrilled to participate, but hey, it's time to support the team from outside and wish them well," Falcao said at a press conference when he announced he was stepping down. "Today I am in a good position to play, but I didn't want to do something rash that might jeopardize my health. And so I leave the place to a teammate who is one hundred percent healthy. I am conscious of the fact that I still have a lot of game to play," he added.

Colombia’s performance has been a pleasant surprise. Even without Falcao, the team has managed to play beautifully against Greece and Ivory Coast.
