Ricardo Medina Jr., who played the Red Power Ranger, gave life to the Red Lion in "Power Rangers Wild Force," and was also the voice of Deker in "Power Rangers Samurai" on the action television series, pleaded guilty to murder for the death of his roommate, whom he had killed with a sword.

Prosecutors said the 38-year-old actor had stuck a medieval "Conan the Barbarian" type sword to Joshua Sutter several times at the house they shared in Green Valley, during an argument over Medina's girlfriend.

Medina pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and admitted that he used a sword in the murder. He appeared in court on March 30, 2017, when the judge issued the sentence.

According to TMZ, the actor called 911 and waited for for cops to arrive. While he was being arrested and booked for murder, Sutter was transported to a hospital, and later pronounced dead. At the time, he was held on $1 million bail but no charges were filed against him from the district attorney due to requests on further investigation. He was released on February 3, 2015.

On January 14, 2016, he was arrested again for Sutter's death. Medina was facing at the time, a possible sentence of life imprisonment with a chance of parole after 26 years. But finally, Superior Court Judge Daviann L. Mitchell gave Medina the maximum of 6 years in prison.

The victim's father, Donald Sutter, said: "Put this killer in general [prison] population so he will see and feel the same fear that Joshua must have felt." Sutter's father also told the judge no one would look at Medina as a celebrity again.
