While everyone’s attention is focused on the unveiling of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 just a couple of hours away, the South Korean tech giant is rumored to be silently perfecting a Samsung Gear S2 successor that will launch to the market next month.

The next-generation Gear, which will launch with the “Frontier” trademark moniker, is going to be showcased at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, according to GSM Arena.

Though Samsung has yet to confirm the official release date of its upcoming smartwatch, there are reports pointing to the first day of September because the company is slated to launch its new Galaxy Tab S3 devices on the said date.

In 2015, Samsung showcased a teaser clip for the second-generation Gear smartwatch before the Note launch event wrapped up, so it is possible that the company is planning to do the same during its Unpacked event on Tuesday, Aug. 2, as noted by Express.

Design-wise, the Samsung Gear S3 will keep the appearance of its predecessor, but it is going to shed a few millimeters off just to keep up with Apple’s upcoming wearables.

Nonetheless, the Gear S3 will still have the same 1.2-inch circular display that will be bordered by a spinning bezel that is used for zooming, scrolling and navigating the device’s software.

Unlike its predecessors, the Samsung Gear S3 is going to be packed with more features including a speedometer, a barometer, an altimeter and a GPS chip, according to SamMobile.

The speedometer will enable the smartwatch to measure speeds, keep track of distance traveled and calculate the average speed of the user. There is also going to be a log list incorporated into this feature, so users can view previous records.

Since the Gear S3 is designed for people with very active lifestyles, it will have an altimeter and a barometer to measure altitude and atmospheric pressure, respectively. Both features will work together in alarming users if there is a sudden weather change.

Finally, the GPS chip serves as the mediator of the collaborative work of the aforesaid features. When an Internet connection is established, the GPS chip will function to track the location of users and provide the proper input to the measuring devices.
