The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation's “Hotel Transylvania 2” and we had the chance to talk to Selena Gomez, who voices the sweet and brave Mavis, who’s all grown up now! Gomez said making the film was incredibly fun, and we’re sure the star-studded cast had something to do with that. It includes, Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Mel Brooks, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and Keegan-Michael Key.

The singer talked to us about her favorite Halloween memories, how she’s a vampire person “for sure,” and how she relates to her endearing character in this second part of the “Hotel Transylvania” story. Here’s what she said.

Latin Times: How are you similar and how are you different from your character Mavis?

Selena Gomez: You know, I think she’s fearless. She’s not afraid to take chances and fall in love, which I think is totally admirable. She just, really cares and has fun. I’m definitely not as cool as Mavis, but I’d love to be her.

LT: Do you ever bring anything you learned from your Disney years to make these kinds of films?

SG: Not really. I think it’s kind of different. Animation is so much different than live action, so it was actually just really fun, and it didn’t even feel like work. We’d just go in and relax; try to have a good time, and Adam is super chill and supportive. But it is the same as Disney in that we look to bring families together.

LT: What were your favorite moments to play in the movie, being that Mavis has transitioned to being a mom?

SG: Yeah, I loved the scenes where she’s with her son Deniss, cause I just think you see a tender, softer side to her and she’s responsible and an adult. I like that, it’s very charming.

LT: You’ve talked about having grown up too fast, but did you get the chance to celebrate Halloween as a little girl?

SG: Of course! I’m from Texas, so we would do everything back home.

LT: What was your favorite part about it?

SG: Oh, I just loved being with my mom, and she’s a makeup artist, so she always came up with these elaborate ideas. I mean, she would make me feel really legit [laughs].

LT: And what advice would you give you 10-year-old self today?

SG: I would probably say to just remain confident. I’d say, ‘Everything’s going to be ok if you stay confident.’

LT: What was your favorite childhood movie?

SG: Ohhh, I loved “Alice in Wonderland.”

LT: Do you feel any pressure in representing Latinos in every project you work on, or do you tend to just focus on the story more?

SG: Not necessarily pressure, but I think it’s super important. It’s why I am who I am, regardless of where I’m from, you know. It’s such a huge part of who I am, and I’m very proud of that.

LT: You’ve been so busy lately, what comes next for you?

SG: My album “Revival” comes out October 9, so I’m very excited about that. We just released the second single “Same Old Love,” and we’re getting ready to release the music video soon. So yeah, getting ready to tour next year and just focusing on the record and the movie for now.
