Carlos Vives and Shakira, two of Colombia's reputable artists, have teamed up for their first-ever musical collaboration. The news was announced ending April when former Mayor of Barranquilla, Alejandro "Alex" Char Chaljub revealed that the Colombian songstress and her compatriot will film a music video in Barranquilla for a tropical, urban song called "La Bicicleta." Vives confirmed the exciting news to Billboard, sharing the scoop on his upcoming production with Shak.

"I've always dreamt of writing, producing and recording a song with Shakira so that together we can show our Colombia to the world," Vives told Billboard. "She has taken our country's music to unimaginable heights, and finally being able to collaborate with her is a realization of this dream." This is the first time Shakira collaborates with a fellow Colombian.

"La Bicicleta," according to the exclusive on Billboard, is a catchy, danceable mix of vallenato, pop and reggaetón. It also has sensual parts with indigenous sounds. The song, which was written by Vives and Shak, will debut June 20 to radio stations around the world and release on all digital platforms on June 21. "La Bicicleta" is part of Vives' upcoming fall album "Vives."

While we wait for this powerful duet, let us remind you that the mother-of-two will most probably drop a Spanish-language studio album this year.

The mother of the adorable boys Milan and Sasha, recently shared two photos on Instagram that clearly teased her 18 million followers. "Writing songs! / Escribiendo canciones! Shak," said one of the posts. Another post simply stated: "Drumming." Yes, we are crossing our fingers that the writing and drumming are part of her long overdue album. In fact, at a press conference held in October 2015, the 39-year-old singer promised to start working on an album for 2016. "By the end of this year or the beginning of the next year I will start working on my new album in the studio," she said.

Vives, on the other hand, is making the rounds with his tour and will visit U.S. cities such as Miami, New York and Hollywood.
