Shakira has made a strong debut on the Billboard 200 debuting at the No. 2 position, just below Disney's Frozen who scored an eight week at the top of the chart with 161,000 copies sold. The 37-year-old Colombian's self-titled album is her highest-charting ever with 84,000 sold. It moved past her previous record at No. 3 with "Laundry Service" in 2001. However, her latest musical effort was not able to surpass 2009's "She Wolf" which launched at No. 15 with 89,000 during the Christmas shopping season. Shakira has become a household name thanks to her stint as a coach on "The Voice" that airs on NBC. The television network also booked the "Can't Remember To Forget You" singer on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and "Today" to raise awareness of her latest musical recording.

Shakira was the top-selling album on iTunes in over 69 countries following her debut. She even crossed the Atlantic and appeared on "The Voice UK" where she delighted fans singing her latest single "Empire." The audience present was surprised when the lights turned bright and fire started spitting out from the stage. The darker side of Shakira reminded us of her "Pies Descalzos" days and is surely showing that she is a versatile artist that can do more than shake her hips. "It feels kind of strange to be on the other side of those red chairs," Shakira told the host Emma Willis about performing. The irksome moment came when Willis made a remark that she quickly fixed on the spot. "What is it like performing in front of superstars," Emma asked. Quickly realizing her mistake she restated her statement, "Well you're a superstar anyway, but sitting as a superstar watching somebody else." Shakira replied, "It's nerve-racking. Here is when you put yourself in the shoes of those contestants because it is really a nerve-racking job, but you guys [the audience] make it so easy on us." The "Can't Remember To Forget You" singer seemed to be out of focus and only provided short answers to the host.

Over on social media, Shakira's performance caused waves and she was heavily panned for not singing live and lip-syncing her performance. "Shakira miming on 'The Voice UK' haha irony. Right there. Disgraceful," soul singer Steve Brookstein wrote on Twitter. "It really gets under my skin so much when artists lip sync on TALENT shows!," KP McCormack tweeted mentioning Shakira. Stateside the blonde beauty continues on the hit reality show with the second week of the Battle Rounds. In a grueling war between the coaches, Shakira used one of her steals to take Tess Boyer from Team Blake. More on last night's episode of "The Voice" here. Have you heard Shakira's latest album?
