She just finished finished forming part of the "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" telenovela and she's now casting for what could possibly be her first-ever leading role.

Claudia Álvarez, a Mexican actress who's participated in many novelas since 2004, is crossing her fingers to land the main role of María López in the remake of the 1989 classic "Simplemente María." Will she have what it takes to honor Victoria Ruffo's character?

"I'm very happy because I've had many nice projects with characters who I've enjoyed portraying," Alvarez said to TV y Notas. "But this role would be one that'll allow me to excel if I do it good," she added.

The 33-year-old star, however, is not the only one competing for Ruffo's iconic character --Adriana Louvier, Ariadne Díaz and Danna García are also casting for the role.

"It's a great opportunity, and if it's for me, it's for me. If not, that's OK," she said, stating that it's the mentality she has and has helped her in her career. "I don't get stressed over projects. I like for the other girls to have gigs also," Álvarez said. "The sun shines for every one and I'm relaxed. In the meantime, I'll study and embrace whatever comes my way."
