"Splatoon" for Wii U. Nintendo Europe

Nintendo has revealed that "Splatoon" will receive a massive update Aug. 5 for the U.S. and Aug. 6 for Europe and Australia. Fans can expect much more content from new modes, weapons and more.

The software update will bring two new matchmaking modes, two new weapon types, an increase to the game’s level cap from 20 to 50, the addition of rank S and S+, and more than 40 pieces of new gear, IGN reports.

The two new modes will be called Squad Battle and Private Battle. In Squad Battle players will be able to compete in ranked battles alongside their friends on teams consisting of two to four inklings. While in Private Battle players will be able to completely customize matches with up to eight players in a variety of mach setups including: 1-vs-1, 2-vs-2, 1-vs-3, 2-vs-4 and so on.

As far as weaposn are concerned "Splatoon" will be introducing the bucket-like Slosher weapon and a six-barrelled minigun dubbed the Splatling. You can check out the weapons in action in the Japanese TV promo below.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has teased that there is more free downloadable content on the way for the Wii U title, including Rainmaker Ranked Battle mode, additional maps, even more weapons and much more but of course we'll have to wait and see.
