Melissa Benoist talks the coming second season of "Supergirl" at The CW's upfront event.

On the red carpet at The CW upfronts, Benoist was asked if there was a possibility of her character becoming romantically involved with "The Flash's" Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

"I don’t know that they'd ever get together; I think they’re too similar. I think they’d like pig out on.. I think they’re pals, pigging out on ice cream."

Likewise, Benoist isn't sure what the future holds for Kara's relationship with James Olsen, played by Mehcad Brooks. "I have no idea. That is up in the air," she said. "What I love about Kara is about naive and innocent she is about love. Whatever happens, it will be funny and awkward and great."

As far as the Season 2 plot is concerned, Benoist revealed that she doesn't know all that much and but she is certain the season will introduce the character in the pod seen in the Season 1 finale, "Better Angels." As for who that DC character could be is still unknown, even to the cast.

"I've heard a few rumblings of who it might be," the actress told TVLine at The CW's upfront event.

Benoist further went on to reveal that Kara's promotion at work will change her life quite a bit and that it is only natural to see more crossover episodes between the four DC series "Arrow," "The Flash," "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl."

The move of "Supergirl" from CBS to The CW has made it possible for these characters to crossover more often on the small screen. This seems like a natural fit and fans agree online, supporting the move and the potential for crossovers amongst the shows. And The CW president Mark Pedowiz is echoing the same sentiments. Pedowitz said:

"We are sitting down with Greg Berlanti and his team next week or so. We have a rough idea where they’re heading and, because our working relationship with Greg, we’re confident they understand what our needs are. As for the tone or tonality of the series, they did have a pretty successful series. The fact it’s now moved to The CW, where it should have been in the first place, I don’t think it will have a big impact on the tone."
