Tamerlan Tsarneav, suspect No. 1 of the Boston Marathon bombings, left behind a wife and child when he died in the shootout on Thursday night. Not much was known about the old Tsarneav brother, but as the story unfolded it was revealed that he was married to Katherine Russell Tsarnaev.
"Our daughter has lost her husband today, the father of her child," says the family in a short statement. "We cannot begin to comprehend how this horrible tragedy occurred. In the aftermath of the Patriot's Day horror, we know that we never really knew Tamerlane Tsarnaev. Our hearts are sickened by the knowledge of the horror he has inflicted. Please respect our family's privacy in this difficult time."
