It's no secret that Tiger Woods and his former caddie Steve Williams haven't exactly been best pals since Woods fired his former co-pilot back in 2011 but after shaking hands and sharing what seemed to be pleasantries after completing the 2013 Open Championship, it appears that Tiger and Steve have moved past their differences.

Williams is now the caddie for 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott and since both Scott and Woods were paired together for the final round of the recent Open Championship in Scotland, Tiger and Steve Williams were given the opportunity for a post-round handshake, something that seemed to be pleasant for the first time since the golfer fired Williams in 2011.

Tiger Woods divorced his wife Elin Nordegren after the No. 1 golfer in the world allegedly engaged in multiple acts of indiscretion nearly 4 years ago. The news that Woods was cheating on his wife didn't sit too well with Williams, who said he lost respect for Tiger after learning of his extra-marital affairs.

Woods went on to explain in 2011 that he felt a change on the bag was needed and that he would no longer walk the fairways and read the greens with Steve Williams, the man who was on Tiger's bag for 13 of his 14 major championships and a total of 72 professional victories.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it's time for a change," Woods said at the time of the firing. Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future."

Learning that he had been relieved of his caddying duties after a tremendous stretch with one of the greatest players the game of golf has ever seen, Williams noted that players can change caddies anytime they feel it necessary but the way he was let go wasn't right.

"A player has the right to fire a caddie at any given time," Williams told the AP back in 2011. "And for a player when he's not playing at his best for extended period of time, it's not uncommon to change caddies, coaches, psychologists or bring on a psychologist. We all know the business. I have no problem being fired. But I'm disappointed in the timing of it."

It was no secret that Woods - who finished 6th at the Open Championship last week - and Williams haven't gotten along in recent years but following the recent final round at Muirfield Golf Links, Tiger said he and his former caddie just congratulated one another on a tough battle.

"He was saying it was a good fight out there today," Tiger said after firing a final round 74.

Woods' current caddie Joe LaCava indicated after the tournament that Tiger and Steve Williams actually had a lengthy conversation while Woods and Scott were playing the eighth hole on Sunday.

LaCava said he did not want to eavesdrop so he didn't know everything that was said but he did note that the healing of the relationship will certainly be good for both parties.

"I think it's great if that's the case if it's getting better," LaCava said to ESPN. "I think it's great for both of them. You know, life's too short. It's nice that Steve is making the effort, and I think Tiger to me is accepting the effort and I think he's happy he's making the effort."

Steve Williams is in a great position alongside Adam Scott as his caddying career continues to succeed. After finishing in a tie for 3rd this week, the 33-year-old Australian continues to play at a high level and after winning his first major championship at Augusta in April, Scott will surely be a contender at the upcoming PGA Championship.

Tiger on the other hand has not won a Major title since taking the 2008 U.S. Open in a playoff over Rocco Mediate. The fact that Woods continues to put himself in contention however, may be an indication that the 14-time major winner is close to finally taking home another trophy.

After watching Woods and Williams shake hands on the 72nd hole last week, it also appears that the relationship between the once dominant duo is on the way to complete rehabilitation.
