Top Gear Patagonia Argentina Christmas Special
"Top Gear" Patagonia Christmas Special will air on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28! BBC 2

It has been a long nine months, but "Top Gear" will finally return to BBC Two on Dec. 27 with a belated Christmas Special. Earlier this month, Top Gear confirmed that its Patagonia Christmas Special will be a two part program: Dec. 27 on 8:30 p.m. and December 28 at 8 p.m. on BBC Two.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are traversing across 1,600 miles of the Route 40 Patagonian Highway in South America. For the epic expedition, Jeremy Clarkson will be driving a Porsche 928, Richard Hammond selected a green Mustang with a Peugeot badge, and James May decided to choose the properly British Lotus Esprit for the task.

While the selection of cars seem perfectly sane for a highway drive, the Top Gear Patagonia Christmas Special trailer looks anything like anything but a highway drive. For one, James May's Lotus Esprit gets stuck in deep mud. Secondly, you'll find Hammond's Peugeot Mustang pushing an enormous animal carcass.

Like any Top Gear Christmas Special road trip, things obviously aren't going to plan for the presenters. That said, the gorgeous Andes Mountains and the expansive grasslands of Patagonia could not be a more beautiful place on Earth to visit and experience.

Finally, the 20-second Top Gear Patagonia Christmas Special trailer ends with Jeremy Clarkson asking a peculiar question while looking through a pair of binoculars: "Who are those guys?"

If you're a Top Gear fan and you haven't been living under a rock for the past couple of months, then you may recall that the "Top Gear" production crew had a rather terrifying incident while shooting for the Christmas special in Argentina. While stopping at a town, a group became hostile when they noticed the license plate on Jeremy Clarkson's Porsche. The plate read "H982 FKL," which allegedly referred to the awful Falkland Islands War of 1982. Stones were thrown at the Top Gear production crew. As the situation escalated, the presenters and the team packed up their cameras and equipment, abandoned the three cars, and fled the country.

The Top Gear Patagonia Christmas Special airs Dec. 27 on BBC Two at 8:30 p.m. Watch the trailer below:
