The presidential election is just weeks away and the candidates are giving it all they’ve got in their final campaign efforts. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has been bashed for his outlandish statements about women. Now it is being reported that he claims the comments were purely for entertainment.

According to KSNV, Trump who has gone out of his way to body shame and degrade women has stated that his comments were purely for entertainment purposes. In an interview in Las Vegas, Trump did is very best to shrug off his pattern of sexism and misogynistic comments saying that he in fact has nothing but respect for women.

In the brief interview, reporter Jim Snyder talked about Trump’s sexist and misogynistic comments in the past.

“ You have two beautiful daughters past their teenage years,” Snyder says. “Can you understand the concern from parents of younger girls that some of your comments could be hurtful to girls struggling with body image and the pressure to be model perfect?”

“A lot of that was done fore the purpose of entertainment,” Trump responds. “There’s nobody that has more respect for women than I do.”

It’s clear as day that the Trump campaign has seen the damage his comments have cost the candidate is on a mission of damage control. With the history of his comments aimed at Rosie O’Donnell and former beauty queen Alicia Machado, it’s going to be very hard for the public to forgive.

In the past when asked about his harsh comments during interviews, Trump further humiliated the women in question and poked fun at them. It seems a little calculated that now he is claiming that it was all a joke.

Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton has yet to respond to Trump’s entertainment explanation but we will have to wait and see if she brings it up in the next presidential debate.
