Telenovelas producer Valentín Pimstein died in Chile at 91, due to respiratory arrest. Pimstein is the creator of successful soap operas like "Maria Mercedes," "La pícara soñadora," "Los ricos también lloran," and many more. For the same reason, he is considered "The father of the pink soap opera", because most of his stories were romantic and melodramatic.

Mexican television show "Programa Hoy" released the news.

In the eighties he discovered actresses Lucía Méndez, Verónica Castro, Angelica Aragón, Edith González and Victoria Ruffo, who were protagonists of some of his soap operas.

Pimstein was born in Chile, but moved to Mexico, where he became assistant director of Televisa and later became a producer. His first telenovela was "Gutierritos," considered an icon in the history of the soap operas for being the second telenovela produced in Mexico in 1958 for Telesistema Mexicano, now Televisa.

Actress Verónica Castro posted a photo of her and the late producer on her Instagram account, thanking him for the opportunity.

Actress Lucía Méndez also shared her condolences: "What sadness, he was a GREAT being, a teacher like a few, dear Valentin Pimstein ... THANK YOU for all your teaching. Until forever."
