The only reason that I am excited for summer to wind down is the premiere of “The Walking Dead.” No seriously, can we just get to October 13th already, I mean really! So what should we except for Season 4, A LOT! At the end of Season 3, we saw as Rick and the remaining group took in a lot of Woodbury residents, and even though considering the time jump between the end of Season 3 and the premiere of Season 4, the survivors will still be set in the prison for at least half of the new season. Another thing that is changing for the start of Season 4 is that life in the prison has change. Rick is now longer in charge, he has given up his role as dictator to focus on raising his kids.

Now the survivors are governed by a small group of people aptly named The Council. The Council serves as the governing body, they are also the enforcers who determine who can entire the prison and who can stay. Another drastic change is the setup of living quarters in the prison, with the addition of 50 Woodbury residents, things are looking a little bit different.

But don’t worry, “The Walking Dead” isn’t moving too far from its roots. There will be a ton of blood-soaked walker killing, even more than we have already seen. "The great thing about this show is that literally every character is on the table... We have no one that is untouchable." executive producer David Alpert said. "One of the hardest things was killing Shane. In the comic, it happened much, much earlier, and Robert has said he wanted to give that character a little bit more space to breathe. So trying to figure out what was the right place to kill Shane was really difficult."

GASP! Even more of our favorite characters will be killed off, I genuinely don’t know if I can handle it. Alpert discussed the inevitably of character deaths on the apocalyptic zombie inhabited world, people will die and luckily for “The Walking Dead,” they have a large ensemble cast, but I literally am terrified to hear that no one is off limits. Even Daryl Dixon? I need to know? He has to be off limits, I don’t believe it!

"In the screening room here in production, there's a wall that says 'Our Grateful Dead,' and it's got pictures of all the characters who've been killed off over the seasons," Alpert said. "It's kind of insane. One, it's kind of touching, and, two, we've killed a lot of people on this show." Fitting for a series based in an apocalyptic zombie universe. "Oh, there's going to be a whole bunch of people added to the wall [in season 4]," he added.

"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on Sunday, October 13.
