Fans who have been watching the current season of "The Walking Dead" can attest that there is a growing something (friendship? romance? companionship?) between Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney). The exact nature of their relationship is unclear, although all signs are pointing to a potential romantic story arc.
And if you think Beth is too young, think again! The character is said to be around 18 years old in the current season. That said, there's no doubt that Daryl is significantly older than Beth. At SXSW, Kinney told Access Hollywood that she believes Beth views Daryl as an adult but not as a father figure.
"I mean, I think from Beth's point of view [it is] like, 'Oh, he's cool. He's older than me, but he's not like my dad's age or even maybe Rick's age.' I think she sees him as just like an older adult but not necessarily like a parent," says Kinney.
When asked about a potential romantic story line between the two, the actress reveals that one thing is for sure: they care about each other. She also reveals that Beth is "one of the reasons that [Daryl] thinks there are good people."
"I think that she definitely really, really cares about him and their relationship has grown and she's like really connected to him [in] a friendship way, but I don't think that it's necessarily occurred to her... that like, 'Oh, this could be something more.' But I definitely think in that moment, that sort of realization that, 'Well, this is like really special -- this kind of connection that has grown," says the actress.
Do you think Daryl and Beth should have a romantic relationship?
