"Walking Dead" Season 5 Rumors
Will Glenn live or die in Walking Dead Season 5? Skybound Comics / AMC TV

Hold on to your butts because "The Walking Dead" Season 5 release date is Sunday, Oct. 12. With just a matter of months left, new rumors on the latest season are sprouting like weeds. As we mentioned in previous leaks, Rick's crew will definitely find a way out of the train car, but it's going to be a fierce uphill battle from there.

Fans of the series had a little breather towards the end of "The Walking Dead" Season 4, but series creator Robert Kirkman has announced that play time is over-- it's time to die. In particular, Kirkman discussed the possibilities of the death of a major character during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"It’s always highly likely, though I wouldn’t say that it’s any more likely than it ever is, but it is always extremely likely," said Kirkman. "We did pull back on the reins a little bit at the end of season four. We’re definitely going to hit the ground running for season five and we really don’t let up very quickly at all. It’s going to be a pretty fast-paced, intense season.”

The ultimate fear among diehard "Walking Dead" fans is the death of Glenn. In the comic series, Glenn learns that his wife Maggie is pregnant. Overjoyed with the thought of starting their own family, Glenn and Maggie talk about making a life for themselves at the Hilltop, where it could be safer. Unfortunately, fans of the comic will know that the group gets ambushed by the Saviors, another band of surivors that live in a large factory surroundd by a wall of impaled zombies. The Saviors' leader, Negan, lines the group up and tells them that the Saviors will bring forth a "new world order." What's more, Negan decides that a member of the group must be killed in retribution for the Savior members that the group has killed. At first, it looked as if Negan would dismiss Glenn to go after someone else. Eventually, Negan would single out Glenn after all and bring his barbed wire baseball bat to Glenn's skull while the group watched on helplessly. Negan and his crew of Saviors leave the group with Glenn's body.

Overwhelmed with grief and rage, Maggie hits Rick relentlessly, calling him a coward for not doing anything to stop Glenn's death. When she returns to her senses, the group take Glenn's body to the Hilltop to have him buried. Rick vows that he will get revenge on the Negan and the Saviors for what they have done to their great friend Glenn.

Glenn's death was a pivotal moment in "The Walking Dead" comics, but it remains to be seen whether the TV show will follow along such a devastating storyline as well. Glenn's character is one of the first we meet in the series and, along with Daryl and Rick, one of the most beloved badasses in the group.

Now it's your turn: do you believe that "The Walking Dead" TV show should follow the comic book storyline or do you want the show to pen it's own alternate story to spare Glenn instead? Take the poll and let us know!
