"The Walking Dead" Season 6 on AMC. AMC

As reported back in November, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will take up the role of Negan in "The Walking Dead" and fans are stoked to finally see one of the most iconic villains in the franchise come to life. Creator Robert Kirkman is also excited to see one of his most memorable characters be introduced in the live-action show. According to Kirkman, seeing Morgan as Negan gave him goosebumps.

Kirkman told IGN, "I have seen him in action, and it’s very great. You’d expect me to say that because, you know, I’m part of the production. I can’t exactly come out and say, 'Oh, it’s not good!' But it’s one of the most goosebump-y moments I’ve ever gotten watching the show. I’ve walked through the prison. I’ve seen Steven Yeun and Andrew Lincoln meet for the first time. There have been a lot of huge moments that I’ve experienced on this show that have really touched me and moved me in ways that I can’t really describe with words."

Kirkman continued, "Seeing Negan come to life in the form of Jeffrey Dean Morgan is definitely a high point, if not the highest point. Seeing Negan is a big deal. I think fans are going to be very pleased with the portrayal that Jeffrey’s come up with and the way we’re handling him in the show. It’s gonna be awesome."

Meanwhile, Xander Berkeley will join the cast as Gregory, the leader of the Hilltop Colony as well as Tom Payne who will join the series in a recurring role as Paul Monroe a.k.a. "Jesus."

"The Walking Dead" season six returns on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 for its midseason premiere.
