Black Friday is coming to Walmart, but prepare your shopping selves even earlier this year, because it is starting on Thursday! Walmart's Black Friday deals will start at 6pm on Thanksgiving, two hours earlier than last year. The world's largest retailer released a statement on Tuesday confirming the new kick off time, Walmart will stagger holiday deals throughout the night of Thanksgiving and into Black Friday.
The new start time for Walmart is a response to the competitive holiday shopping season. Black Friday normally marks the official start of the Christmas shopping season, however in recent years retailers have started their door busting deals earlier and earlier, with the shopping craze landing smack dab in the middle of the Thanksgiving holiday.
This year, stores including Macy's, J.C. Penney, and Kohl's are opening for the first time on Thanksgiving evening. In addition, Best Buy recently announced that it too would be having a early opening at Thanksgiving, rivaling Walmart's 6 pm Black Friday start. Toys R Us may be the earliest opened retailer on Thanksgiving, which plans on starting its deals at 5 pm on the holiday.
In addition to Walmart's earlier start time, the store has increased its stock of electronics, namely TVs by 65 percent, and tablets by 50 percent. Walmart is also promising more avaible items for more customers, by offering a one-hour in stock guarantee on popular items, and limiting customers from purchasing multiple items in bulk. For popular items, sought after on Black Friday, Walmart is limiting its customers to a one time guarantee per customer, but they do ensure your most desired item will be in stock, but in store only!
Don't worry if you don't make it to store on Thanksgiving or Black Friday, Walmart gives its customers a chance to score serious deals even online in the comfort of their own home! Walmart will be offering special deals starting Thanksgiving morning, some of which will be the same as those offered at the sales events at the stores later in the evening.
