As preparations continue for what could turn out to be the coldest Super Bowl in NFL history, league officials, players, organizations and fans are hoping that the year's biggest professional football game -- which will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey -- will be one of the most enjoyable and unique experiences in the long and storied history of the World Championship. While the game between the AFC Champion Denver Broncos and NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks promises to be action-packed, the halftime performance should not disappoint as well since it features a a group of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and a rising star.

Hoping to follow Beyoncé's 2013 halftime performance -- the most-watched Super Bowl performance of all-time -- 28-year-old Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will take their most popular songs and perform them on one of the biggest platforms. Mars was named the 2013 Billboard Musician of the Year and due to the fact that he owns 22 Top-100 singles and continues to grow in popularity, the Honolulu, Hawaii native became a strong choice to perform at Super Bowl XLVIII. Though Mars is slated as the main performer, the pop artist chose to invite the Chili Peppers to the show in order to entertain a wider variety of fans and the combination of the two promises to be one of the most interesting performances in recent time.

Super Bowl XLVIII is set to kick off on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m., ET and it features two teams that many believed would reach the final game of the season prior to the start of the 2013-2014 campaign. Led by quarterback Peyton Manning, the Broncos will be looking to win their first Super Bowl since John Elway led Denver to back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998. The Seattle Seahawks -- who made their only Super Bowl appearance in 2006 -- will look to win the organization's first title, losing in their only contest to the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10.
